REVIEWS :

The back of this LP's beautifully designed sleeve says that this contains "Five Infections < rust on iron" -- whatever that means. Sigillum S are and Italian entity who have been creating disturbing, fascinating music for quite a few years now, but they've never really attained much renown for some reason. Their work has been hit or miss for me, but the hits have generally outnumbered the misses by a safe margin. This new release shows some effect from member E. Bernocchi's collaborations with Mick Harris' Scorn project, ane the result is some deep, dubby, mind-melting stuff. Great work here. The LP opens with atmospheric sound effects of the type that Sigillum S have perfected over the years. The sounds float along for a while, and then the slow, heavy rhythms enter. It's all spacey and stoned, an excellent use of minimal rhythms to pull things along, while mesmerizing noises come and go. An excellent hallinatory listening experience. If you're into late-model Scorn, DJ Spooky and the like, this'll light you up just fine.
